Themed as a masquerade, this distinguished in-person event, hosted by the charismatic Miss Sophia McIntosh, celebrated the monumental achievements and invaluable contributions of individuals who have profoundly impacted our society. Attendees were treated to an unforgettable evening brimming with dynamic stories and stirring orations, honoring those who champion equality, justice, and progress.
The evening was a true celebration of legacy, highlighting the exceptional efforts of the honorees. Below, we spotlight the distinguished recipients of the 2024 Legacy Awards, celebrating their remarkable achievements and contributions.
Ciora Thomas
A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Ciora Thomas is the Founder and Executive Director of SisTers PGH, an organization she established in 2013. Driven by her own experiences as a homeless teenager navigating a system rife with transphobia, Ciora created SisTers PGH to support and empower TGNC (transgender and gender-nonconforming) BIPOC (Black Indigenous People of Color) individuals. Her work focuses on providing spaces and resources for marginalized communities to thrive independently.
Jenna Lee Dunn
Born and raised in the Mid-South, Jenna Lee Dunn is a 46-year-old trans woman and a fierce advocate for trans rights. As a veterinary assistant in Memphis, Jenna tirelessly ensures that the trans community in the area has access to life-saving resources and uplifting events. Formerly working as a trans services specialist for OUTMemphis, Jenna founded her own organization, Mid-South Trans Nation, dedicated to building a better future for trans people. Her advocacy and passion for animals and people alike make her a beacon of hope in her community.
Quinton Reynolds
Quinton Reynolds is the Founder and Executive Director of Game Changing Men and Lead Consultant for Quinton Reynolds Consulting. His work focuses on dismantling stigmas and barriers for the progression of black transmasculine men in society. By addressing toxic masculinities and promoting health, Quinton aims to end violence and ensure the safety and wellness of communities of color. With an Associate’s Degree in Business Management and currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Health Management, Quinton’s dedication to his community is unwavering.
Jay Jones
Jay Jones lives by the quote, “We have to be visible; we should not be ashamed of who we are” by Marsha P. Johnson. As a passionate community builder, Jay has made it her mission to showcase queer people in leadership roles. At Howard University, she has worked diligently to make the campus more inclusive, raising significant funds for LGBTQIA+ initiatives and leading the first LGBTQIA site in the university’s Alternative Spring Break program’s history.
Jade Lenore LeDuff
Hailing from New Orleans, Louisiana, Jade Lenore LeDuff embodies Southern hospitality and a commitment to equity and proper treatment for Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming individuals. With over 15 years of experience in compliance, project management, and community advocacy, Jade has devoted her career to ensuring the rights and well-being of TGNC folks. Her leadership and vision have positively impacted many lives, making her a respected figure in the LGBTQIA+ community.
Jahnell Butler
Originally from Upstate New York, Jahnell Butler is the Associate Director of Trans Services at San Francisco Community Health. With over a decade of experience in prevention work and trans advocacy, Jahnell focuses on raising awareness and improving healthcare access for underserved populations. Her innovative and traditional methods connect individuals to essential healthcare services, making her a vital advocate in her community.
Katrina Ward
Born and raised in Memphis, TN, Katrina Ward discovered her passion for the art of female illusion in 2003. She has competed in several national systems, earning numerous titles. When not competing, Katrina serves as a housing case manager at A Vision 4 Hope in Atlanta, GA, providing emergency and permanent housing for LGBT individuals. Her commitment to her community is evident in her dedication to service and unity.
Khilynn Fowler
As the Community Relations Manager at the San Francisco Community Health Center, Khilynn Fowler is a trailblazer and advocate for transgender rights. From Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Khilynn holds the distinction of being the first trans woman Commissioner of the City of San Leandro, Arts and Culture, and Alameda County of the Status of Women. Her work has been instrumental in promoting inclusivity and change within her community.
Asia Marie Williams
Memphis, TN, native Asia Marie Williams is a talented singer and songwriter. Her contributions to the arts and her advocacy for the LGBTQIA+ community have earned her recognition and admiration.
Dewayne Crowder
Dewayne Crowder, born in Memphis, TN, is the Founder and Executive Director of A VISION 4 HOPE, INC. With a background in public service, Dewayne has worked as an outreach coordinator, healthcare provider, homecare consultant, and educator. His organization addresses community needs and provides a comprehensive safe haven for youth, the elderly, and the LGBTQ community.
Tavianna Rouse
