Amanzi Arnett is a multidisciplinary artist based in Memphis, TN. Their work centers the liberation and preservation of the stories of Black and queer communities in the South. In addition to completing their first feature-length screenplay as the 2021 Indie Memphis Screenwriting Fellow, their words have also appeared on platforms such as MIC.com, Minnesota Public Radio, and BBC radio. Amanzi has also appeared on panels for Indie Memphis Black Creators Forum, Center for Southern Literary Arts, and as a guest speaker for Hamline University’s Mahle Lecture series. Most recently, they presented “Songs of Cabin and Field”, a concert of their compositions at the historic LeMoyne-Owen College featuring the Memphis area PRIZM Ensemble.
