As we enter a new year, the MidSouth LGBT Chamber of Commerce is proud to share the progress we have made together. Thank you to Focus for giving us space to stay connected with the community and highlight the work happening across our region. We welcome new members and invite anyone interested in growing as a job seeker, small business, or entrepreneur to see how the chamber can support your goals.
This year brought strong growth with 20% growth in new members joining since January. We launched a new brand and website, with help from Cheers Creative and supported by New Urban Media, giving our chamber a clearer identity and a stronger digital presence. We added two communications interns who helped expand outreach and streamline updates for our members.
Advocacy remained a priority. Our delegation attended Day on the Hill on February 11, giving our members a voice on policies that affect LGBTQ people and small businesses. We strengthened relationships with key partners and leaders including ACLU, TEP, Representative Karen Camper, Representative Justin Pearson, and Deputy Chief of Staff and LGBTQ+ Liaison for the Mayor, Renee Sekander.
Our chamber supported a wide range of community events including MidSouth Pride, Trans Pride, the Focus Awards, and the grand opening of Music City Prep Clinic. We also worked alongside the MidSouth Latino Chamber at their business expo and mixers and expanded our ties with the Greater Memphis Chamber.
Members benefited from direct support throughout the year. David Wells from the SBA helped provide guidance on financing. Branding specialists Dana James Mwangi and Diamond Young offered insight and resources through the Greater Memphis Chamber. We also hosted a DEI education panel, held a mixer and speaking events, and continued our Ally Bootcamp with part one completed this year.
Our visibility grew through coverage in Memphis Voyager Magazine, Focus, and Memphis news outlets. We also celebrated a first-ever with LGBTQ Business Week where over 30 businesses shared offers all week for patrons. The visibility from LGBTQ Business Week also came with a proclamation from the Shelby County Mayor Harris.
2025 has been a year of renewed energy, clearer structure, and stronger partnerships. We look forward to building on this momentum and continuing to serve our community with intention and purpose.
