Inaugural Show at Sheet Cake Gallery | Thursday – Friday 10AM – 5PM; Saturday 11AM – 5PM |  Free and open to the public. The new, queer-inclusive art gallery Sheet Cake’s inaugural show “Welcome In” is on view through Saturday, January 6th. Next up after this show? “Velvet Sternum,” featuring Joel Parsons and Clare Torina. 

Trivia Night at DRUS Bar | Thursday, 7PM | 21+ | Free | Test your knowledge on random facts this Thursday, right before karaoke.

Two Gallery Shows at Crosstown | The West Gallery at Crosstown Arts | Tuesday–Friday, 10AM – 8PM; Saturday 10AM – 6PM; Sunday noon– 6PM | Free and open to the public. | Artist’s Coe Lapossy’s show, “But Then, Suddenly, I Was Looking From the Inside Out,” and Ahmad George’s “The Molasses Man & Other Delta Tales” are on view through Sunday, January 21, 2024. Friday, January 5th

Louise Page in Concert With Dr. Ew | BAR DKDC | 9PM. | 21+ | “Chamber punk” musician Louise Page kicks off 2024 with singer-guitarist Dr. Ew in a show featuring new songs and a full band.

Movie Night | OUT Memphis, YEC | 5PM | ages 18-24 | Queer folks 18-24 can gather for a showing of Cinderella (2021) featuring Camila Cabello in the leading role, and Billy Porter as her fabulous godmother. 

Saturday, January 6th

Adeem The Artist | B-SIDE MEMPHIS | Doors 7PM | Show 7:30PM | $20 | Presented by Folk All Y’all, Adeem Maria shares their unique sound, inspired by country roots and ranging from lo-fi anti-folk to post-punk with listeners at the B-SIDE Memphis, located inside Minglewood Plaza.

Fempire: A Grrrl Power Dance Party | Black Lodge | 10PM – 3PM | $10, FREE to members | 18+ | Put on your dancing shoes for a night of music herstory celebration featuring DJs GRAVEYARD GLORIA and QUEEN BEA ARTHUR spinning disco, techno, femme club hits from the decades, and more.

Sunday, January 7th

Mean Girls | Black Lodge | Doors 5PM |18+ | “On Wednesdays we wear pink.” Can you believe this iconic cult classic is 20 years old? Come celebrate at Black Lodge with a free screening.

Monday, January 8th

Changelings | Lamplighter Lounge | No cover, but make sure you bring tips! | 10 PM. | Changelings is an “afabulous” queer drag show featuring Polly PopJoy, Fairyspit, Hunny Blunt, Darby Richburg, Anyanka, India Taco, Marg’Ani, and Angel Partz. 

Wednesday, January 10th

Changing the Narrative | Evergreen Theater | Doors 5:30PM | Discussion 6PM | All ages | Free | Non-profit The Haven and JennaOnFire Productions teamed up to host this important panel discussion called “Changing the Narrative: Understanding Diverse Identities” that explores intersectionality and how we can all better support each other in our LGBTQ communities.

Thursday, January 11th

Mental Health and Mocktails | OUT Memphis Community Center | 5:30PM – 7PM | Free | BlackOUT, the Black-centered LGBTQ programming part of the non-profit OUT Memphis, presents a sober Paint-n-Sip including a healing discussion about mental wellness led by therapist Jerrika Henderson.

“Peace by Piece” | Cossitt Library, Dos Hermanos Art Gallery | 6PM – 8PM | Free and open to the public | “Peace by Piece” is a “visual testament” to discovering beauty through mental health challenges by local, visual artist and musician Tangela Mathis.

‘Say Less’ Single Release Party | Growlers | $10 advance | $12 at the door  | 7-9 PM. |  Local indie music artist Jordan Occasionally celebrates the release of their new single “Say Less” with queer artists Lina Beach and Celest. It will be a night of smooth, sultry and queer RnB! 

Shantay You Play Drag Queen Bingo with Moth Moth Moth. | Moxy Memphis Downtown (Hotel) | Thursdays 7PM – 9PM | 18+ | Free. | Join the Magical Miss Mothie and her wonderful crew for Thursday night bingo.

Friday, January 12th 

Movable Collection Exhibition | UrbanArt Commission | 6PM – 8PM  | Free | The Urban Arts Commission brings us a moving (literally) collection of local art, displayed on a rotating basis in Midsouth libraries, universities, parks, and more. The show features queer artists like Zack Orsborn, Ahmad George, artists from Mengcheng collective, Madame Fraankie, and so many more. 

Saturday, January 13th

Mid-South Pride Pageant | Evergreen Theatre | Doors 6pm. | Show at 7pm. | Tickets start at $10 | Who will take the crown?! Join MidSouth Pride for a night of rhinestones and tiaras as they celebrate local LGBTQ royalty. Stay tuned for guest performances and a special ceremony for 2023’s honorees, Mr. Mid-South Pride, Eli Golden Valentino and Miss Mid-South Pride, Moth Moth Moth.

Sunday, January 14th

Market Day | Lamplighter Lounge | 2PM – 6PM | No cover to enter | Market Day has all your artisan needs, from jewelry, baked goods and clothes, to candles and even crystals, featuring local artists like Vickie and Moth Moth Moth. 

Monday, January 15th (MLK Day!)

King Day | National Civil Rights Museum  | 8AM – 6PM | All Ages Welcome | Free | It’s a time for locals of all backgrounds to reflect at the National Civil Rights Museum in downtown Memphis. The museum will be free for a daylong celebration dedicated to the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr..

Memphis Roller Derby Bootcamp | Location TBD | $15 | All genders welcome! No skate experience or gear required | Sign Up Here | Memphis Roller Derby hosts an 8-week bootcamp designed to teach prospective members how to skate, and introduce them to roller derby skills and rules. Here you’ll learn your way around a roller derby in a fun and inclusive space.
