Germantown, TN—Germantown Community Theatre is opening its season with the musical, Singing in
the Rain, Jr., directed by Julie Reinbold, and features talented young people from the Germantown
area. You’ll be tapping your toes and humming along to favorite songs like Singin’ in the Rain, Make
‘Em Laugh, and Good Morning.
Eric Newsome, Executive Director of GCT says, “It’s a great delight to bring this production to the
community as a part of our regular season. We want our patrons and supporters to see what amazing
things are happening with the next generation of performing arts talent, and how GCT is fostering and
developing that talent. Theatre-goers of all ages will appreciate what Julie has done with this show.”
The show’s Director, Julie Reinbold, adds “I am so proud of GCT’s commitment to quality theatre
education, and I am thrilled to be a part of it this summer as the Director of Singin’ in the Rain, Jr. For
the past three summers, we have chosen musicals (The Music Man, Jr. and G2K The Sound of Music)
that have allowed us to introduce young performers to classics of the musical theatre canon. Producing
these shows has been fun for our cast and crew, as well as our production team and our audiences.”
Hilarious situations and snappy dialogue will keep you entertained from beginning to end. Singin’ in the
Rain Jr. has it all– the starlet, the leading man and a love affair that could change lives and make or
break careers! In silent movies, Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont are a hot item, but behind the scenes,
things aren’t as they appear. With the advent of “talkies,” Lina’s squeaky voice might be the end of her
career without help from a young actress who talks and sings for her.
The show opens July 27 and runs through August 12. Shows are Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and
Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Ticket prices range from $15 to $20 and can be purchased online at
www.gctcomeplay.org or by calling the box office, 901.453.7447.
