Immigrant Youth Rally Outside GOP Dinner to Fight for Their Future
Calls for Tennessee Members of Congress to #DefendDACA and Protect 8,300+ Tennessean DACA Recipients

 

NASHVILLE – Tomorrow (August 3rd), immigrant youth will be rallying in support of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and the Dream Act of 2017 as Vice President Pence, Governor Haslam, and most of Tennessee members of Congress gather inside for the annual GOP fundraising dinner. Youth from Memphis, Chattanooga, Nashville, Lenoir City, and more will be gathering to urge our members of Congress and other elected officials to protect undocumented youth from being forced into the deportation pipeline by keeping the DACA program in place until a legislative solution, such as the Dream Act, is passed. DACA recipients will share stories about how DACA has changed their lives and transformed their communities. 

DACA students as well as Latino Memphis staff traveling to Nashville for the rally will be available for interviews at Latino Memphis on Thursday, August 3rd at 12:30 p.m. Latino Memphis is located at 6041 Mt. Moriah Ext. Ste. 16.

What: Rally in support of DACA led by immigrant youth from across the state to call on elected officials to keep DACA in place until a legislative solution is passed.
