Latino Memphis Festival & Midsouth Food Truck Fest Partner: Shuttle Route + Traffic Plan

LATINO MEMPHIS FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES FESTIVAL HOPPING SHUTTLE ROUTE AND TRAFFIC PLAN

In preparation for two beloved 901 festivals both happening on May 13th, Latino Memphis is collaborating with Premier Transportation Services to create a shuttle route to transport festival goers to and from the Latino Memphis Festival happening at Overton Park from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the Midsouth Food Truck Fest going on at the Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Latino Memphis’ goal is for Memphians to enjoy two amazing festivals while also creating a traffic and parking plan that makes a day in Midtown simple from arrival to departure.

On May 13th, Memphians can hop onto one of the Premier Transportation shuttles and hop from festival to festival. Why chose between the Latino Memphis Festival and the Midsouth Food Festival when you can easily get to both? Premier Transportation will be running two shuttle routes, a red line and a blue line. Each shuttle will be clearly marked, will start at 9 a.m. and will have a cost of $2 per person. Correct change is strongly suggested. You’ll want to have a little more cash on you since the Latino Memphis Festival has a $5 suggested entrance donation, and general admission at the Midsouth Food Truck Fest is five dollars.

In addition to parking inside of Overton Park, Memphians attending the festivals can park at Tiger Lane, in surrounding neighborhoods and at Shelby County Schools Board of Education, 160 S Hollywood St, an approved free off-site parking and shuttle pick-up location. Latino Memphis Festival goers will be dropped off near the golf clubhouse and will be steps away from the festival. To keep the shuttles running efficiently, the route will use Golf Drive to avoid shuttles getting hung up in heavy traffic on Morrie Moss.

  • Shelby County Schools Board of Education Parking Lot, 160 S Hollywood St. (free parking)

Latino Memphis has been working with Overton Park Conservancy to prepare for the inevitable parking and traffic congestion on Saturday, May 13th. Overton Park main park roads (with the exception of Morrie Moss) will move to a one-way clockwise traffic flow beginning at 8 a.m. All vehicles will enter the park from either Poplar & Tucker to the south or Prentiss Place to the north. Veterans Plaza drive will be exit-only for cars. Vehicles entering at Poplar & Tucker will continue onto Morrie Moss and either travel north to the Zoo, or veer right (east) toward Veterans Plaza, the Greensward, Memphis College of Art, and other park amenities. Vehicles will exit the park from Veterans Plaza Drive, or may loop back on Golf Drive to turn left and exit at the light at Poplar & Tucker. Morrie Moss/Tucker St. will allow for two-way traffic from the Zoo entrance to Poplar Avenue, to allow Zoo visitors to exit the park.

Parking will be allowed on both sides of park roads on Veterans Plaza Drive and Golf Drive, with all parking facing the same direction. This means visitors will be allowed to parallel park on either side of the road without changing the direction of their vehicles. Parking will be allowed only on one side of Morrie Moss. Old Forest Lane and a portion of Museum Drive will be closed to both traffic and parking. Be prepared to seek alternate parking locations once the park roads and parking lots are full.

The Memphis Police Department’s Special Events Unit will assist in managing traffic. Overton Park Conservancy is working in collaboration with Latino Memphis and the Memphis Police Department to ensure a pleasant experience for all visitors to Overton Park on May 13.
