Public Invited to Collaborate on Cascading Flower Curtain Art Installation in Crosstown Concourse

Crosstown Arts and Church Health are pleased to partner on a collaborative art project titled Stargazer Garden to be installed this fall in the West Atrium of Crosstown Concourse.

The project, a curtain constructed from paper flowers, is led by Crosstown Arts resident artist Eric Clausen. It’s the first in an ongoing series of art installations in the West Atrium that will be spearheaded by Crosstown Arts resident artists.

The public is invited to decorate and fold paper flowers, which will be used to create the curtain installation. The flower-folding table is located in the West Atrium, just behind the Church Health welcome desk, and is staffed by Madelyn Altman and Lauren Cain of Crosstown Arts, every Monday through Friday9:30 am to 5:30 pm.

The West Atrium Installation Project is an annual exhibition, organized and managed by Crosstown Arts, to integrate specific spatial and programmatic needs of Church Health into a collaborative, large-scale, art installation. Opportunities for hands-on public participation in the project will take place during the summer of each year, with an opening celebration for the completed installation planned in the fall. Each installation will remain on view in the West Atrium for nine months.

Several pre-made, paper flower-based items will soon be made available for purchase at the table, with all proceeds going to support Lifeworks, an independent arts and wellness initiative collaborating with Crosstown Arts and Church Health to organize and support a wide range of creative projects that directly address the needs of the mental health community of Memphis.

Crosstown Arts — founding partner, co-developer, and future tenant of Crosstown Concourse — is a contemporary arts organization dedicated to further cultivating the creative community in Memphis by providing resources and creating opportunities and experiences to inspire, support, and connect a diverse range of creative people, projects, and audiences.
