Job Description:
We seek a dedicated and talented Digital Content Editor to join our team. As an Editor at Focus LGBT Magazine, you will play a key role in shaping our publication’s content and editorial direction. This is a remote position, but candidates must reside within the Mid-South area to be accessible for events as needed.
Responsibilities:
1. Editorial Project Management: Review, edit, and curate content for each issue, ensuring it aligns with our magazine’s mission and style. This includes regular communication with our contributors and community leaders.
2. Copywriting: Create engaging and compelling copy for articles, features, and advertisements that resonate with our audience.
3. Quality Assurance: Maintain high editorial standards, checking for accuracy, grammar, and consistency.
4. Content Strategy: Collaborate with the editorial team to develop and execute content strategies that align with our readers’ interests and community needs.
5. Website Content: Basic understanding of website content creation, including updating and managing online articles and features.
6. Event Coverage: Be available for event coverage and reporting as needed within the Mid-South region.
Requirements:
– Proven experience in editing and copywriting, preferably in the field of journalism or magazines.
– Strong command of the English language with excellent writing and grammar skills.
– Basic knowledge of website content management systems (CMS).
– Must reside within the Mid-South area for event accessibility.
– Passion for LGBTQ+ issues, community, and storytelling.
– Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines consistently.
