Bi the Way is our new biweekly event list of Memphis and the Midsouth’s best LGBTQ+ and queer-inclusive events for the next two weeks.

Painter and multimedia artist Ahmad George’s gallery show, “The Molasses Man & Other Delta Tales,” is on view through Sunday, January 21, 2024. Check it out while you still can! The West Gallery at Crosstown Arts. | Free and open to the public.

Wednesday, December 13th

Holiday Party for LGBTQ Young Adults. | OUTMemphis Youth Emergency Center | 5-7 PM | Free to all. | OUTMemphis is hosting a holiday party for LGBTQ youth ages 18-24. If you’re looking for a way to be festive this week, come celebrate and commune. 

MicroCinema at Crosstown. Crosstown Theater | 7:00 PM | Pay-What-You-Can + free food and drinks | Open to all ages with content warning of violence/domestic violence.
In this installment of the IndieMemphis + Crosstown collab called When The Apocalypse is Over you can catch several shorts by brilliant Filipino filmmakers, some of them queer, all fitting within the themes of diverse bodies, alternative lifestyles and pushing against dystopia.

Head to Black Lodge for hyperpop and experimental sounds from artists Suroor and W1ND0W and garage psych sounds from band Spoonful.

Moth Moth Moth AKA Magical Miss Mothie co-hosts a champion showcase of drag performers with Season 2 champion Hunny Blunt.

Sissy Dicks |  The Green Room at Crosstown. Doors 7 pm | Show at 7:30 PM | Tickets: $15 in advance | $20 at the door | “Four-time Grammy ineligible, nationally tolerated, and locally endured” queer country band perform their greatest hits at Crosstown. Please note: Explicit content featured, so prepare for a wild and entertaining 18+ show.

Saturday, December 16

Hope Clayburn’s Soul Scrimmage Y’ALL SO LOUD Album Release Party. | The Green Room at Crosstown Arts | Doors 7:00 PM | Show at 7:30 pm  | Tickets: $15 in advance | $20 at the door | Musician Hope Clayburn, who recently shared her love of music with us in an interview, premiers her latest energetic soul funk rock project with Memphis.

Memphis Roller Derby’s Hohoho Burlesque Show & Silent Auction. ​​HiTONE | Doors 8pm. | Show at 9pm. | $10 admission. 
This event, hosted by the Memphis Roller Derby, is full of all sorts of fun: burlesque performances, a silent auction (great for last minute holiday shopping), and a skate raffle! 

PRYSM Holiday Party. OUTMemphis. | 1-3PM | Free to all.
This party is especially for LGBTQ+ youth ages 12-17. Young folks can commune with their peers in a safe and fun environment. 

Sad Rainbows. Black Lodge. | 2-7 PM | Art ranging $20 – $150
Artist and drag performer Moth Moth Moth shares her mixed media art including prints, papers, “dastardly collages” and more. Plus, an Artist Talk at 5PM.

Hyena Club. | CURRENT | 8 PM | No Cover | 21+
Baby Mas, Will Ryder and Honey Moon headline a drag review sure to entertain, co-hosted by Moth Moth Moth and Brenda Newport.

Friday, December 29th

Pussy Time. HiTONE, Small room (downstairs). | 7:00 PM | $5 | 18+
Bands Handsome Girl Pretty Boy, Your Mom, and Stay Fashionable perform in this very punk, very queer live show.

Memphis Punk Rock Flea Market. HiTONE, Big room. | Doors 4pm | Runs till midnight.  | Free | Speaking of punk, no punk will want to miss this nighttime flea market full of vintage art, records, clothes and more. Plus live shows and specialty drinks.

Goodbye 2023. HiTONE, Small room. | Doors: 8pm | Show: 9pm | Tickets $15 
Emotion False Record Presents a 2023 close-out live show featuring bands B.L.A.S.T., Stay Fashionable, Disapproving Father, and DJ Amy D. 

Mothership. | HiTONE, Big room. | Doors 8PM | Show till 12:30 AM | Free!
This show features over two dozen performers, and somehow is still FREE! Bring in the new year with artists like Onyx Davenport, Lady Pluto, King Platonic and so many more. 

New Queers Eve. | Zebra Lounge. | Starts 10:30 PM | 21+ | Tickets $15 (limited capacity!)
Ring in the new year with this metallic-themed dance party hosted by Sapphic Memphis, featuring DJ Spaceage. It’s a party for all the sapphics of the MidSouth—their loved ones and allies, too!
