You’re going to be great in college. What once made you a target will now make you an icon. You can finally say, ‘screw you’ to your tormentors from high school.
It’s a time to cut those apron strings, too. After all, your parents will have very little influence in your day to day life or who you hang out with. It’s a place where you can live out loud. And if you haven’t already, it’s a place where you can come out.
Big changes, indeed. Do not go through college alone. Seek out like-minded students and faculty who can help you navigate the big, bad world of adulting as an LGBTQ+ person. Your new support group, your ‘chosen family,’ will help you shine like you’ve never shone before.
