For the Love of Luke Seeks to Raise Funds for Local Musician Luke White

(Memphis. TN): On Saturday, July 20, midtown bar and event space Railgarten will host For the Love of Luke, a benefit show to raise money for Memphis musician Luke White. Luke was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor and, like many local artists, does not have adequate health insurance to cover the cost of treatment and aftercare. Doors open at 3 p.m. with a suggested donation of $20.

The benefit show will include a silent auction featuring items like gift cards, ticket packages, instruments, collectors’ items, memorabilia, and a variety of other services and products.

The band line-up is subject to change, but currently starts with kid-friendly bands G3 and School of Rock and continues with Snowglobe, Sons of Mudboy, Amy Lavere and Will Sexton, Liz Brasher, Andy Grooms, Crystal Shrine, the Subteens, Louder Than Bombs, and Outer Ring, among others. Bands will be added in the days ahead of the show.

In addition to the suggested door donation and silent auction, $1 from all draft beer sales will go towards Luke’s medical expenses. Medical expenses will include surgery, physical therapy, and required therapeutics. Aftercare might include living expenses and additional therapy. All funds raised will go directly to Luke.

The show’s organizers, led by Memphis/Austin musician Tim Regan, want this all-day affair to be family-friendly, full of surprises, and above all, a celebration of Luke’s music and the contributions he has made and will continue to make to the Memphis music scene as he begins his long recovery. “Luke is an integral part of the scene here in Memphis. He does anything for anybody, and this is our chance to show him how much we support and care for him, and how he’s got all of us behind him as he faces this challenge. This is our chance to give back to someone who’s given us so much,” Regan says.
