When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that results in a tremendous peach which launches him on a journey of enormous proportions. Suddenly, James finds himself in the center of the gigantic peach among human-sized insects with equally oversized personalities. Thanks to James’ quick wit and creative thinking, the residents learn to live and work together as a family to survive the adventure of a lifetime.
Sharing the title role of James are 11-year-old Nathan Morton (Billy Elliot) and 14-year-old Lucy Nassif (Peter Pan). They are joined by Resident Company Members Courtney Oliver (Hairspray; Hot L. Baltimore) and Brooke Papritz (Heathers: the Musical; Peter Pan) as Aunts Sponge and Spiker. Playing James’ magical bug companions are Associate Company Member Heather Zurowski (Heathers: the Musical; Perfect Arrangement) as Ladybug, Allison Fortin (Peter Pan; Rock of Ages), Stuart Rial (Lord of the Flies; Peter Pan) as Earthworm, Jason Blank (Peter Pan) as Centipede, and Mickey Nixon making his Playhouse on the Square debut as Grasshopper. James and the Giant Peach is directed by Dennis Whitehead Darling.
