Nashville in Harmony Announces Spring 2020 Concert at Belmont

Final show of Nashville in Harmony’s season to mark organization’s performance debut at Belmont and Artistic Director Don Schlosser’s last show

March 2, 2020 – Nashville, TN – Nashville in Harmony (NiH), a 120-voice mixed citywide chorus for people of all sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression, announces it will present “Singing for Our Lives,” the final show of the organization’s season and Don Schlosser’s last local performance as Artistic Director. This concert will take place on May 9, 2020, at 7:30 p.m. at McAfee Concert Hall and will mark Nashville in Harmony’s debut performance on Belmont University’s campus.

“Singing for Our Lives” will feature original compositions and arrangements by Don Schlosser, including a piece inspired by Southern Word poet Gray Bulla, as well as songs that reflect on Nashville in Harmony’s history and mission. “Think about how our lives have been changed by the opportunity to find our voice and to join our voices together to advocate for something we’re passionate about. Think about how LGBTQ lives have been changed and how we have given expression to newfound pride and grieved the pains of the past and celebrated marriage equality,” says Don about this particular concert’s theme and intention.  “Our focus on this show is not only on what we have sung and the accomplishments of the past 15 years. We are a forward-looking people with a bright future. We have laid a solid foundation so that the singing can continue to enrich the lives of future generations.”

“Singing for Our Lives” also marks Don Schlosser’s last local performance with Nashville in Harmony as he will be retiring at the end of this season. His final performance with the organization will be at the National GALA Festival in Minneapolis, MN in July 2020, where NiH will perform as a featured chorus. Nashville in Harmony is also planning an event to celebrate Don’s legacy and the organization’s future in April 2020, and details will be announced at a later date.
