PERIOD, a global youth-run non-profit, will be hosting the first-ever National Period Day (NPD) on October 19, 2019! In celebration of NPD, PERIOD is organizing rallies across the COUNTRY! The rally in Tennessee is intended to stir up the conversation about menstruation (which is often ignored), empower diverse menstruators (LGBTQ/non-binary), and demand the passing of TN H 1483, which is a bill that would provide funding for menstrual products to be available in all TN public high schools. The intersectional event will include speakers, performers, chants, and a collective action for menstrual equity. The event currently has an exciting group of “Co-Hosts” or organizations/groups that have started to promote it and support the cause.
Confirmed Co-Hosts:
- CHOICES Memphis Center for Reproductive Health
- Shelby County Crime Victims and Rape Crisis Center
- Sister Supply
- GlobeMed @ Rhodes
- Women’s Equality Club @ Arlington High School
More to come!
