Nashville LGBT Chamber of Commerce presents Pride Night at Bridgestone Arena’s Predators game on Feb. 22. The event will have a pre-game reception for members. In its third year, the event is one that shows the support the Nashville community has for the LGBT community.
“The first Pride Night, in 2016, sold less than 200 tickets,” said Lisa Howe, CEO of the Chamber. “Last year, we sold more than 400. It’s a great example of the loyalty of the LGBT and ally community. People want to do business with organizations who support the LGBT community and their families.”
The relationship with the Nashville Predators is one that doesn’t just extend for one game, Howe points out.
“The Nashville Predators have authentic outreach, not only to the LGBT community but other local minority communities, including people of color, people with disabilities, veterans and more,” she said. “The Predators have an inclusive culture inside their offices, on their team, and inside and outside their arena. Sean Henry, CEO, won the Ally Award at the LGBT Chamber’s Excellence in Business Awards last April.”
Some of the Predators staff attended Nashville LGBT Chamber of Commerce’s TASTE event, a fundraiser for the organization, and the chef from Bridgestone Arena served as a judge at that event.
“Predators Pride Night is becoming an annual event that more and more people look forward to every year. Personally, it is exciting for me to have a great partnership with a local sports team, because so many of us in the LGBT community have suffered from the homophobia we have experienced in sports,” Howe said.
“To have a professional sports team put their arms around you and your family and friends can almost be therapeutic.”
