Country royalty Tanya Tucker has joined the lineup for the GLAAD + Ty Herndon Concert for Love and Acceptance, to take place at Wildhorse Saloon on June 7, the first day of the 2018 CMA Fest. Also appearing will be Billy Dean, Cale Dodds, Parson James, Temecula Road, and Thompson Square, in addition to Terri Clark, Cam, Shelly Fairchild, Cassadee Pope, Michael Ray, Calum Scott, and Brandon Stansell. Anita Cochran is the musical director for the show and will perform during the event.
Grammy nominated and Dove Award winning artist Ty Herndon shared his coming out story with the world in 2014, which ushered in an era of acceptance within the country music industry that was not so openly seen in the past. In recent years, some of country’s heavy hitters, such as Garth Brooks, Luke Bryan, Kasey Musgraves, and The Dixie Chicks, have incorporated inclusive messages into their music. Carrie Underwood, Toby Keith, and Dierks Bentley have posted public messages of support on their social media.
“I’m so excited that we have reached a time when the country music community is standing up for love and acceptance for LGBTQ people, and young children everywhere who feel different can know that we’re all on their side,” says Zeke Stokes, GLAAD’s Vice President of Programs and Executive Producer of the 2018 Concert for Love & Acceptance.
The 2018 Concert for Love and Acceptance corporate partners include presenting partners CMT, Ketel One Family-Made Vodka and community partners Nissan and The Weissmann Group.
