The Circuit Playhouse Opens Season With Play About Family

Memphis’ Professional Resident Theatre Company’s Circuit Playhouse stage begins the 51st season with the regional premier of:

THE HUMANS
By Stephen Karam

August 23 – September 8

The Circuit Playhouse
51 South Cooper St.
Memphis, TN 38104

Playhouse on the Square, in partnership with Art and Nancy Graesser and super sponsor Dr. Thomas Ratliff, is proud to present the regional premiere addressing the generational shifts and pressures of family.

Thanksgiving in a run-down, Chinatown apartment isn’t the usual setting for the Blake family. But Brigid and new boyfriend Richard insist. A family get together is a great time to reconnect with those you love – or complain about religion, career choices, and why you spend money on organic vegetable smoothies. For this family, it is somewhere in between.

Eugart Yerian for Lifetime Achievement winner, Tony Isbell (For Peter Pan on the 70th Birthday, Red) directs an all-star cast in this new work, winner of 2016 Tony Award for Best Play.  Resident Company member Brooke Papritz (1984Significant Other), leads an ensemble cast as Brigid.  Sister, Aimee Blake is played by Lena Wallace Black (Victory Blues).  Returning to the Circuit stage is Barclay Roberts (God of CarnageCountry House), as the girls’ father, Erik Blake.  Playhouse on the Square “original” Jo Lynne Palmer (PicnicThe Exonerated), brings life to the role of Momo.
