Voting is now open in Brooks African-Print Design Challenge

What: In celebration of the next special exhibition, African-Print Fashion Now! A Story of Taste, Globalization, and Style , Memphis Brooks Museum of Art and Spoonflower – a Durham, North Carolina company – are partnering for an African-Print Design Challenge that incorporates the repeating design style of African print.

The online public voting is now open to determine the top 25 designs! A jury of local Memphis fashion designers, makers and relevant Brooks Museum staff will choose the grand prize winner from the top 25 designs.

The challenge invited creatives to design a textile that highlights the dynamic traditions of bold and colorful patterns found in African dress. The winning textile design will be featured during the exhibition opening on February 23 and will be used for a  second part of the challenge. The winner will receive $200 Spoondollars and a $500 prize from the Brooks.

When: Online public voting begins today and ends January 9 at 2 p.m. CST. The winning design will be announced January 11. Click here to vote: https://www.spoonflower.com/contests/african-art-memphis-brooks-museum-of-art
