TPAC’s 2018-2019 Season Bringing in Well-Loved Classics, fun new Productions

The HCA/TriStar Health Broadway at TPAC 2018-2019 season was revealed on April 24 during a fun-filled event punctuated by videos and a handful of live performances. The event finished up with hors d’oeuvres from several beloved Nashville eateries such as Salsa and Maggiano’s Little Italy. Everyone was on the edge of their seats as they waited to find out if one particular show will be coming through Nashville.

So here it is – yes, we are getting Hamilton, but it will not be until the 2019-2020 season.

The applause and cheers erupted throughout the theatre as the announcement was made, despite the delay in the show’s actual appearance. The dates will be announced once they’ve been finalized, but TPAC President and CEO, Kathleen O’Brien, did reveal that first priority for tickets and seating will be given to season ticket holders for 2018-2019 who renew their season passes in 2019-2020. The Flex pass does not count toward the priority access.

As for the 2018-2019 shows, TPAC is bringing an exciting lineup to Nashville next season. Several time-honored favorites are returning and five are making their premiere appearance on the stage of Andrew Jackson Hall. The fact that we are landing first-run shows is a testament to Nashville’s rising position within the theatre world. Perhaps the locals making their mark in the theatre world, such as Ginna Claire Mason and Stephanie Rothenberg, are helping to give us a boost. Keep it up, gals!

The eight Broadway season shows are as follows:

To give people the information they need prior to purchasing tickets, TPAC has more information about each show available at www.tpac.org/KnowBeforeYouGo. This information may be especially useful for A Bronx Tale, Anastasia, Miss Saigon, The Book of Mormon, and Rock of Ages, all of which carry warnings for adult themes, language, or gunshots/violence and strobe lights.

Many people expressed disappointment that we’re not getting Dear Evan Hansen or Come From Away in the 2018-2019 season, but with them touring for the first time, it was unlikely that Nashville would land them this time around. Hopefully we’ll see them in coming years.

Please consider buying season tickets or individual tickets to your favorite shows because in doing so, you’re supporting TPAC, but you’re also supporting all of the arts initiatives in which they take part, many of which are so vital to youth and adults in the LGBT+ community. These initiatives include Humanities Outreach in Tennessee (HOT), ArtSmart, Wolf Trap Early Learning Through the Arts, TPAC Summer Institute, TPAC InsideOut, Disney Musicals in Schools, and the Spotlight Awards for musical productions in the local high schools. More information on each of these programs is available through the links at www.TPAC.org/about.
