Welcome Our New 2024 Print + Digital Media Intern, Quailvarious!

Quailvarious Brown joins us as our 2024 summer intern

We’re so excited to welcome Quailvarious Brown (they/them), our new 2024 Summer intern!

Quailvarious is an avid reader, social media enthusiast, and journalism major at the University of Memphis. Originally from Union City, Tennessee, they now live in Memphis.

Quailvarious focuses on telling the stories of marginalized groups with an intersectional approach and has most recently done this with “Wake Up of U of M,” a radio show they produce and host on Monday and Wednesday mornings. In addition, they are currently working on a podcast for Season 4 of the Institute for Public Service Reporting called “Civil Wrongs.”

“I have covered topics from drag shows to the decline of organized religion,” Quailvarious said in their cover letter.

As a ‘backpack journalist,’ Quailvarious will be a valuable addition to our team, assisting with print and digital stories. They will also be instrumental in our social media efforts, particularly on our growing Tik Tok platform, where they will create exciting video content.

Keep an eye out for Quailvarious at Midsouth Pride, where they will be joining our team at the annual Focus booth. In the future, you might even spot this budding photographer at various queer-friendly events around the city, capturing moments for our We Saw You OUT series.

In the meantime, you can follow @quailvarious on Instagram and check out their upcoming features at @focusmidsouth.
