MEMPHIS (August 20, 2019) – The Metal Museum is pleased to announce Repair Days 2019, an annual fundraiser that supports Museum programming throughout the year. During Repair Days, over 100 metalsmiths converge at the Metal Museum to make repairs on metal objects brought in by the community. Repair Days represents a premier learning opportunity for artists of all skill levels, but not just metalsmiths are welcome to join in on the fun. Repair Days invites artists of all ages and skill levels to participate in a Family Fun Day. In addition to family activities, the Museum celebrates fine art as the Museum welcomes Sarah Perkins with the opening of the award-winning Master Metalsmith series. The event wraps up with the Dinner + Art Auction on Saturday evening. Representing the generosity of the metalsmithing and Memphis communities, the Art Auction raises over $40,000 to benefit Museum programs throughout the year.
Event Details:
Repair Days begins on Thursday, October 17 and ends on Sunday, October 20. A Family Fun Day, which is free and open to the public, will be held in conjunction with Repair Days on Saturday, October 19, from 10am to 4pm. The reception and gallery talk for Master Metalsmith: Sarah Perkins begins immediately afterwards at 4pm. On Saturday evening, the Dinner + Art Auction takes place starting at 7pm.

About the Metal Museum
The Metal Museum is the only institution in the United States devoted exclusively to the preservation, promotion, and advancement of the art and craft of fine metalwork. This mission is achieved through four primary program areas – exhibitions, collections, studio practice, and community education and engagement.
