Comcast Foundation to present $20,000 Grant to Latino Memphis for Leadership Development Program

Latino Memphis‘s Abriendo Puertas: “Opening Doors” program is designed to increase educational attainment for Latinos by providing support to high school juniors and seniors in three critical areas: academic mentoring, leadership development, and family and community support.

Latino Memphis believes that education, training and entrepreneurship are the best strategies for building a vibrant middle class in Memphis. Whether their destination is finishing high school, learning English, or going to college, Abriendo Puertas supports Latino students on their journey toward sustainable career paths.

On Friday, January 27, the Comcast Foundation will present a $20,000 grant to Latino Memphis in support of its mentoring and leadership development program. Comcast is committed to supporting programs that prepare today’s youth to become tomorrow’s leaders.

Ray Rico, a Latinx advocate, owns a digital marketing agency and publishes Focus LGBT magazine, amplifying LGBTQ+ voices in Tennessee and the Mid-South. He champions HIV advocacy, fighting stigma and discrimination. Through his work, Ray strives for a more inclusive society.
